Please help to preserve our country’s heritage by becoming a Friend
Who are the Friends of St Illtyd’s?
The Friends have recently been established as a group that supports the maintenance of St Illtyd’s, Llantrithyd, and its churchyard. It is not a religious organisation, but some regular churchgoers are members.
St Illtyd’s is a Grade II* listed building with origins dating back to the 12th Century. It has several notable, historically significant features, including the impressive Basset tomb (dating to the early Reformation) and a ‘coffin’ tomb in an arched recess from the 14th Century.
The Church in Wales no longer has the resources to maintain its large stock of churches, and sadly, many are closing. If St Illtyd’s is to remain in good repair for future generations, ongoing maintenance costs must be met by our local community and visitors who love this place.
Membership Subscription
- Under 18: £2
- Adults: £10
As this is a new venture for St Illtyd’s, our Friends scheme is still developing. We plan to produce two annual leaflets for Friends of St Illtyd’s, with updates on maintenance projects, historical insights, and local stories.
There will be an AGM for the Friends. All funds raised are restricted to maintaining the Church and Churchyard and will not be used for general Church funds.
